Message from the Chair
Dear Members,
As we enter August, I want to acknowledge the resilience and commitment our industry continues to show. Between biosecurity threats, regulatory changes, and market volatility, Australian egg farmers remain focused on delivering safe, affordable, high-quality eggs.
Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) continues to pose a significant threat. With prior cases it has increased pressure on the poultry sector more broadly, it’s clear that early and consistent engagement with industry is vital. EFA is advocating for improved communication and decision-making to ensure preparedness efforts are practical and effective. We will keep pressing for coordinated national responses that reflect commercial realities.
Members saw the recent release from our CEO around the need for Egg Stamping exemptions to be gone, an issue that EFA has been raising regularly and in the FSANZ egg standard review process. Yesterday, I attended the FSANZ Stakeholder Development Advisory Group (SDAG) meeting on the back of the public consultation undertaken. EFA representatives continue to engage with key decision-makers to ensure the voice of egg farmers is heard. With growing attention on food security, workforce pressures, and sustainability, our needs mustn’t be overlooked in national policy conversations.
We are also continuing to invest in future industry leaders through the GEN EGG program. If you know someone in your business who would benefit, I encourage you to get them involved.
Thank you for your ongoing support. EFA is here to represent you, and we are only as strong as our members.
